The National Board of Trade is the competent body in Sweden for handling EU import and export licences for industrial goods.
EU imports of textiles and clothing from North Korea and Belarus are subject to import licensing. When importing textiles and clothing from Belarus an export license is required before the National Board of Trade can approve an import license.
Import licensing rules applies also to imports of iron and steel from all countries outside the EU. When importing certain iron and steel from Russia and Kazakhstan an export license is required before an import license can be issued. The export licenses are issued by the authorities in the exporting country.
The rules are common for all EU member states. Information on the application for licences is daily sent to the European Commission in Brussels for approval. The National Board of Trade can also issue an import license valid in any other EU member state.
